Collection: Dry Skin
One of the most common symptoms of dry skin is the feeling that the skin is too tight and even hard on the surface. This skin type has small pores due to too little sebum production and as a result suffers from a lack of sebum.
Dry skin can be sensitive and react badly to dryness and cold climate (which characterizes the Icelandic weather). Over time, it also develops fine lines due to excessive dehydration. Dry skin does not tolerate strong and active ingredients.
This skin type is not a temporary condition, but is generally considered a permanent condition. The main characteristic of dry skin is its texture. Due to dryness between the skin layers, the skin becomes dry and flaky. Dead skin cells accumulate on the surface, making the skin rough and cracked and even a little leathery.
A good tip for dry skin is to add a lot of moisture, with gentle ingredients, to your skin care routine, such as hyaluronic acid (hyaluronic acid), glycerin (glycerin) and panthenol (panthenol). Jojoba oil, squalane oil and shea butter can do wonders for dry skin. It is good to use a mild skin cleanser and not a foaming cleanser. It is necessary to use an oil cleanser to increase the moisture level of the skin and thus get rid of dead skin cells, it is much easier for the ingredients to penetrate the skin. To get deep moisture, it is best to lightly dry your skin after washing your face and showering, but do not dry it completely.
The best protection against dry skin is to apply a cream daily when the skin is moist. In this way, the cream can reach deeper into the skin and give it even more moisture. Supplements such as omega-3 fatty acids, which can for example be found in organic hemp oil or linseed oil, are extremely good for those who suffer from dry skin.
Skin and cosmetic products containing alcohol such as ethanol, methanol, ethyl alcohol, denatured alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, SD alcohol, and benzyl alcohol should be avoided. But it is good to remember that cetearyl, stearyl, cetyl and behenyl (different types alcohol) are beneficial.
It is worth noting that the author is interested in skin health and skin care due to his own skin problems, but is not a dermatologist by training.
If you are having a lot of trouble with your skin, we always strongly recommend consulting a doctor or other professional.
